Patch Adams will visit Tamera

We have beautiful news: From April 7th to the 14th, Patch Adams, the clown doctor from the USA, will be in Tamera.
Patch Adams is doctor, clown, artist, social activist, and founder and director of the Gesundheit Institute, a holistic community which since 1971 has given thousands of people free medical care. Patch believes that laughter, joy and creativity are an integral part of the healing process and that therefore a true health care system has to contain such a life. In his model, doctors and patients meet in mutual trust. Patch Adams became famous for caring for ill children. He brought along, with his medical help, laughter; he went dressed as a clown on visits, showing even seriously ill children the other side of life.
Between Tamera and Patch Adams, there has been friendship and exchange for some years. We love him because of his big heart and his radical humanity. With his clown teams he has visited children in many world crisis areas. At places where others couldn’t see hope and therefore looked away, in destroyed villages and towns in Afghanistan, Iraq, Russia, Colombia and many other countries, he dared to bring games and joy - sometimes under tears. For many years he has been preparing a holistic healing institute in West Virginia.

Easter Meeting in Tamera:
Following the initiative of Sabine Lichtenfels, Dieter Duhm and Benjamin von Mendelssohn, a group of particularly committed and active peace visionaries from different cultures and nations will meet in Tamera from April 9th to April 13th, 2009. Their intention is to start planning, preparing, and establishing global peace villages together.
There will also be more peace workers: Sami Awad from Palestine, Arkan from Peru and USA, JЭrgen KleinwДchter, Clinton Callahan and Marion Krause. Also, the core group of the planned first Peace Research Village (PRV) in the Middle East will take part as well as the core group of the Solarvillage (in construction) in Tamera.
Parallel to this event we are inviting interested people to the Easter week from April 8th to April 15th. The participants of the peace meeting will introduce their work in a variety of presentations to the visitors of our Easter week.
On one day, Patch Adams will give a workshop that will last several hours.
Besides getting to know Tamera and its ecological, communitarian and political perspectives, the Easter week offers the rare opportunity to meet Patch Adams, Sami Awad and Arkan.
